Together We…Make an Impact

Gabriela Silva has been a Site Supervisor for Think Together At James Graham Elementary in our Bay Area region for the last five years. She enjoys working with her students and making an impact in their lives. We are excited to share Gabriela’s story with you.

What’s your “why”? Why Think Together, and why do you feel good about the work you do?
My “why” is Think Together is more than a job to me. It is my livelihood. I always want to give my students 100% of my enthusiasm, understanding, andbe a positive role model. I’ve had most of my students since they were in Kindergarten, and they are in 6th grade this year. I want to continue to be able to serve not only the current students in Think Together; but future generations as well.

What brought you to Think Together?
I had experience working with children before Think Together. I wanted to continue to impact the lives of students and help guide them to succeed. This includes helping them with public speaking, academics, social and emotional skills, and in any other form where they can grow as an individual.

What have you been doing to support distance learning?
My site started distance learning last week. We are mostly providing homework support, but our principal requested us to provide social and emotional learning activities as well. Program has made an impact on our students helping them to remain positive during this unprecedented time. Our current goal is to make sure families understand the new value of our program and how it supports the distance learning experience for all families.

Apart from the enrichment activities we offer, we also offered parent resources to support families at home, and consequently their children, with distance learning. Parents have been sharing positive feedback and we’ve been sharing these testimonials to our district. Overall, we hope we can continue to serve in our community.

What is one of your goals you want your students to achieve this school year?
Despite the pandemic, we want to be able to serve and help as many students as we can. However, we also want to ensure that everyone is always safe. Apart from safety, we still want students to recognize the value of program, and remain positive within the circumstances, Overall, as a Site Supervisor, I want to do my very best to make it a great school year for all my students.

What are your personal goals and what’s next for you?
Although I have been in Think Together for quite some time, I’ve learned so much every day. One main thing I have learned is a growth yet positive mindset, expands learning new opportunities. I want to continue to grow as a Site Supervisor; as well as an individual. Working in a school environment has consistent changes with protocols, safety drills, etc. for our students’ best interests. I am beyond excited to continue growing with this organization.

Thank you Gabriela for giving your all for your students and making a positive impact in their lives.
