Home Run Coding Debugging Challenge

The Los Angeles Dodgers are the 2020 World Series champions so in order to get in the spirit we partnered with our friends at STEM to the Future to challenge you to solve this home run debugging challenge.

Gender Pay Gap In Sports

Before we get into the challenge, did you know that in 2020, women make only $0.81 for every dollar a man makes? Though there are no specific statistics on pay gaps in sports due to several factors such as endorsements, Forbes magazine releases the Top 100 Highest-Paid Athletes in the World which clearly shows how much men dominate the sports world. If you Google, “Who has the most grand slam wins in tennis,” the results say Roger Federer with 20 even though Serena Williams has 23. With fewer title wins, Federer makes significantly more money than Serena.

How Can We Fix The Gender Pay Gap In Sports?

History has shown that highlighting women’s athletic feats with the right mix of hype and media coverage can increase interest in women’s sports. As you watch men’s sports games, consider also supporting women in your favorite sports by watching their games and purchasing their merchandise to help further close this gender pay gap.
