Student Intern Interviews

Meet Jeremy (pictured above), one of our student interns. Think Together provides Jeremy and other high school students work-based learning opportunities to prepare them for college and career. Jeremy recently interviewed other Think interns to find out their stories. It was his first time interviewing other people, editing photos, and filming and editing a short video – we think he did a great job! The best part: you get to meet some of the wonderful interns we’ve worked with over the past semester.

Why did you decide to intern at Think Together and are you accomplishing those goals?
I decided to intern at Think Together because I’m in a professional internship class. When I grew up, I was in a lot of afterschool programs. This was because I came from the Philippines to Canada, and then moved to America. I mainly joined because when I did research, I liked the way they helped children. I feel I am learning a lot of things including how to work professionally and in a team, as well as how to effectively use spread sheets and file.

What career path are you working toward?
I want to major in business because I want to become an entrepreneur in the future. Similar to how Think Together affects the lives of youth, I want to be able to give back and support the community. After the internship ends, I am planning to get a job in the business field.

What is your favorite part about interning at Think Together?
My favorite part of working at Think Together is how closely knit the offices are and how everybody is friendly. It feels like a family to me while still being professional.

Why did you decide to intern at Think Together and are you accomplishing those goals?
I wanted to do video editing or something with computers and Think Together had that department. I wanted to learn how to edit videos and I did accomplish that by using the tools they gave me, because I don’t usually have access to this equipment.

What career path are you working toward?
I am a senior in high school and I want to major in mechanical engineering with business. I am going to focus on studying for now, and I will possibly intern again. I am planning to go to a four-year college like UCI, UCB, or CSUF.

What are your hobbies?
I’m in a technology club, where we do tech stuff like 3D printing and green screens. I’m also in the Ladies First Club, where we talk about topics like domestic violence and human rights. At home, I usually study or play video games.

What skills have you learned that are preparing you for your future?
Since I’m working with the media department, I have learned how to work with Adobe Premiere Pro. I feel this skill will help me in the future because if needed, I will be able to create and edit a video to give a presentation for an assignment.

Why did you decide to intern at Think Together and are you accomplishing those goals?
I wanted to work with the media department. I also wanted to gain some job experience because I have never worked before, so I thought that this would be a safe environment to intern in.

What career path are you working toward?
I am applying to colleges that are offering my majors: Cal Ploy Pomona, Cal State Maritime, UCLA, UCI, UCR, Concordia University, and Vanguard University. I want to major in aerospace engineering or business administration.

What career path are you working toward?
I wanted to major in video game design but since it is not the most stable career choice, I have decided to major in computer science, which I can then apply to video game design. After high school, I am going to a community college. Afterwards, I am most likely going to transfer to an UC.

Why did you decide to intern at Think Together and are you accomplishing those goals?
I wanted to work with digital media and marketing in an office. In middle school, I was in Think Together’s afterschool program and since I at least knew what Think Together was, I decided to intern here. I feel like I am accomplishing my goals because I learned how to use a professional camera, how to quickly organize files, and how to interview and socialize with people without being shy.

What skills have you learned that are preparing you for your future?
I learned how to work with a camera. This is important to the media department because the first step to editing photos/videos is learning how to capture them. Communication and organization skills are a given for any kind of job. I did elementary levels of coding and this is useful to me because I want to major in computer science.
