Meet Anthony

Anthony might be 11 years old, but that isn’t stopping him from dreaming big about his future. He’s one of over 150,000 students going back to Think Together’s afterschool programs this fall. Anthony’s thrived in his Rialto program for the past four years as he prepares for his dream career: President of the United States.

“I want to make the country better,” Anthony says, “I want to get more jobs for people and help the poor with food and shelter.” He’s going into sixth grade, but Anthony is well-informed on the issues of the day. He’s set on making a difference in his community.

Anthony also studies American history more than the average elementary student. He’s currently reading a biography on his favorite president, Abraham Lincoln. “Abraham Lincoln rejected slavery and now everyone has the freedom to vote and work.” But Anthony is also quick to share about his other hero, Martin Luther King Jr. MLK was inspired by Lincoln to protest and fight for equal rights for all Americans – Anthony knows the feeling well.

Anthony loves helping his classmates in the afterschool program, he even stays late to assist his friend with his homework. “Think Together is the best,” Anthony shares, “They give you snacks, help you with your homework, and help you exercise.” His favorite activity is CATCH, our health and fitness program. Think Together partners with Anthony’s school to ensure he’s ready for college and career.

Anthony hopes to attend USC when he graduates from high school. After college, he’s ready for a career in politics to change the odds for his community. When asked what his campaign slogan will be, he reflects for a second then proclaims, “Let America be free!” You can’t argue with that.
